Adobe PageMaker is Application software, which is developed by Adobe Corporation U.S.A. We can create file, designing logo, Designing visiting cards, weddings cards, Letterhead, Brochure, Calendar, book publishing and newspaper setting etc.
In spite of above-mentioned matters, there are many other features available in Adobe PageMaker, which help us to furnish a document (e.g. report, letter, essay, thesis, newsletter etc.) in such a way that we can produce the professional outlook. Now a day, Adobe PageMaker is considered as the best word-processing and publishing software. It is specially use in printing press and office.
Ø Click on Start Menu.
Ø Click on Programs.
Ø Click on Adobe, and Click on Adobe PageMaker 6.5 or 7.0
Ø Then Adobe PageMaker Program will be open.

WORKING WITH TOOL PALATE
1. Use the Text tool to select, edit, remove and change text.
2. Use the cropping tool to trim imported graphics.
3. Use the constrained line tool to draw vertical or horizontal lines.
4. Use the rectangle frame tool to create a rectangular placeholder for text and graphics.
5. Use the ellipse frame tool to create a circular or oval placeholder for text and graphics.
6. Use the polygon frame tool to create a polygonal placeholder for text and graphics.
7. Use the zoom tool to magnify or reduce an area of the page.
8. Use the pointer tool to select, move, and resize text blocks and graphics.
9. Use the rotating tool to select and rotate objects.
10. Use the line tool to draw straight lines in any direction.
11. Use the rectangle tool to draw rectangles and squares.
12. Use the ellipse tool to draw ellipses and circles.
13. Use the polygon tool to draw basic polygons.
14. Use the hand tool to scroll the page or to preview and test hyperlinks.
Color Palette
1. Click to open the Colors palette menu.
2. Specify a tint percentage to apply object-level tints of the base color applied to the selection.
3. [None] removes a color applied in PageMaker to an object or an EPS graphic. Applying [None] to a PageMaker-drawn object changes its fill or line attribute to none; applying
4. [Paper] refers to the paper color on which you're printing. Objects behind a paper-colored object won't print where the paper-colored object overlaps them. Instead, the color of the paper on which you print shows through. You can edit [Paper] to simulate the actual paper color on your screen, but you can't print the edited color.
5. [Black] is a 100% process-color black. Unless you change the default using Utilities > Trapping Options, Black overprints when applied to text at type sizes under 24 points, and knocks out when applied to objects.
7. [Registration] is an attribute that you can apply to design elements so that they'll print on every separation from a PostScript printer. For example, if you want your company name and telephone number to appear outside the page area on every separation, you can apply [Registration] to the text.
8. Indicates color model -- RGB, HLS, CMYK, or multiple ink. To show or hide these icons, choose the Display Color Model Icons command on the palette menu.
9. Indicates color model -- RGB, HLS, CMYK, or multiple ink. To show or hide these icons, choose the Display Color Model Icons command on the palette menu.
11. Resize the Colors palette by dragging the lower right corner of the palette window.
12. Click the stroke button to apply a color to the line on a rectangle, polygon, ellipse or frame.

14. Click the both button to apply the same color to both the stroke and the fill.
Control palette in character view
1. Apply button: Click to apply formatting to selected text.
2. Character-view and paragraph-view buttons: Toggle between two kinds of type settings.
3. Type-size option: Specify type size in points. Nudge amount: 0.1 point.
4. Expert tracking option: Type or select the amount of space between letters and words.
5. Kerning option: Increase, decrease, or view kerning increments, accurate to 0.001 of an em space. Nudge amount: 0.01 em.
6. Character-view and paragraph-view buttons: Toggle between two kinds of type settings.
7. Type style buttons: Apply Normal, Bold, Italic, Underline, Reverse, or Strikethrough.
8. Case buttons: Specify small caps or all caps, or deselect both buttons for normal case.
9. Position buttons: Specify Superscript or Subscript type, or deselect both buttons for normal position.
10. Leading option: Specify the vertical space between lines of type in a paragraph. Auto turns on automatic leading at 120% of type size. Nudge amount: 0.1 point.
11. Set width option: Type values from 5% to 250% in increments of a tenth of 1% (Normal equals 100%, or the character width in the original font design). Nudge amount: 1%.
12. Baseline shift option: Specify the vertical position of text relative to the baseline. Nudge amount: 0.01 point.
Control palette in paragraph view
1. Paragraph-style option: Type or choose a defined style.
2. Cursor-position indicator: Tracks the position of the cursor on the publication page.
3. First indent: Specify the amount of indent for the first sentence in a paragraph.
4. Space-before and space-after options: Specify the amount of space to insert above or below the selected paragraphs.
5. Grid-size option: Specify the point size of the text grid to use when Align to Grid option is on.
6. Character-view and paragraph-view buttons: Toggle between two kinds of type settings.
7. Alignment buttons: left align, right align, center aligns, justify, and force justify.
8. Left-indent option: Specify the amount of indent for the left side of the paragraph.
9. Space-before and space-after options: Specify the amount of space to insert above or below the selected paragraphs.
10. Space-before and space-after options: Specify the amount of space to insert above or below the selected paragraphs.
11. Align-to-grid option: Click the right icon to align columns vertically, according to the point size set in the Grid-size option.
Control palette with an object selected
1. Apply button: Applies changes to objects using numeric values you enter.
2. Proxy: Represents the selected object. Click to set a reference point, or the point you are manipulating on the object.
3. Position option: Displays the X and Y coordinate values of the reference point or pointer, relative to the current rulers.
4. Sizing option: Specifies the width and height of the selected object or cropping rectangle. Nudge amount 0.01 inches.
5. Percent-scaling option: Specifies the percentage changed from the original size. When the reference point on the Proxy is a square, the specified values resize the object from the reference point outward. When the reference point on the Proxy is an arrow, specified values resize the object by repositioning the reference point.
6. Rotating option: Rotates the object around the reference point (if the Proxy shows a square for the reference point) or rotates the reference point by the desired increment (if the Proxy shows an arrow for the reference point). Nudge amount: 0.1 degree.
7. Position option: Displays the X and Y coordinate values of the reference point or pointer, relative to the current rulers.
8. Sizing option: Specifies the width and height of the selected object or cropping rectangle. Nudge amount 0.01 inches.
9. Skewing option: Skews objects horizontally -85 to 85 degrees in relation to the selected reference point. Nudge amount: 0.1 degree.
HOW TO CREATE NEW DOCUMENT.
Ø Click on file menu
Ø Click on New,
Ø New dialogue box will be displayed.
Ø Choose your require paper size (e.g. A4, Letter, A3, A5 & Customize etc.)
Ø Choose Paper Orientation style. (Tall and Wide (In word Portrait or Landscapes)
Ø Type Number of Pages as required. (Eg-5)
Ø Choose the Margin setup (Left &Right, Top & Bottom)
Ø Click on OK.
How to Change measurement Scale by “Preferences.”
Preferences option is used to change the" measurements in & vertical ruler”.
Ø Click on File menu.
Ø Click on Preferences.
Ø Click on General.
Ø Preference dialogue box will be displayed.
Ø Choose “Measurements in” select one of the options:-Inches. Millimeter, Paces, Decimal etc.
Ø Similarly Choose Vertical ruler also.
Ø Click on ok.
Open (Ctrl+O): Opens an existing PageMaker publication or template file. By default it opens the original publication or a copy of the template file.
Ø Choose File menu
Ø Click on Open option
Ø A dialogue box will display
Ø Select the publication you want to open.
Ø Select Original or a Copy.
Ø When you select a template or a PageMaker 4.0-6.01 publication, PageMaker automatically selects Copy. To open the original of a template instead, click Original. (The Original option is not available for a PageMaker 4.0-6.01 publication.)
Ø Click OK.
Ø Then your require file will open
Recent Publication: Lists the last eight PageMaker publications you opened and saved.
To quickly open a recently-saved publication:
Ø Choose File Menu
Ø Click On Recent Publications
Ø Select the publication you want to open from the Recent Publications menu.
Close: Closes the active publication. To close all open publications at once, press Shift as you select this command from the File menu.
Ø To close the active publication without exiting PageMaker, choose File > Close.
Ø Then your opening program (Adobe PageMaker) will be close.
Save: (Ctrl+S) Stores the active publication in a file with the same name or prompts you for a name if the file hasn't been saved yet. After saving, you can continue to work in your publication. Save often to avoid accidental loss of your work. Unavailable if the active publication has not been changed since the last Save.
To name and save a publication for the first time:
Ø Choose File Menu
Ø Click on Save
Ø Select a folder in which to store the saved file.
Ø Type a file name for the publication
Ø Then click on Save.
Save As: Lets you rename your publication or template, or save it to a different disk or folder. Unlike the Save command, Save As also compresses your file, making its file size as small as possible.
To save a publication with a new name or in a different location:
Ø Choose File Menu
Ø Click on Save As.
Ø Type a new file name or specify a new location.
Ø Click Save.
Ø Then your file will save in your require file name and location.
Revert: Removes all changes to the active publication since you last saved it. Press Shift as you choose Revert to cancel changes since the last mini-save. Several operations cause mini-saves, including turning, deleting or inserting pages, printing, and copying or pasting objects to the Clipboard.
To abandon all changes and display the most recently saved version of your publication:
Ø Choose the File
Ø Click on Revert command.
Ø Click OK in the Alert that appears.
Place:
Imports text, graphics, and spreadsheet or database files into the active publication. The options available depend on what is selected when you choose this command. The files you can place depend in part on the import filters installed.
Process:
Ø After Opening the PageMaker.
Ø Click on file menu.
Ø Click on Place.
Ø A dialogue box will be displayed.
Ø Choose your desire location where your file is stay
Ø “Files of type:” must be in Rich Text Format.
Ø Click on Convert quotes.
Ø Click on Open.
Acquire:
Use Acquire options to import TIFF images created in a separate device into your publication, without leaving PageMaker. Your device must support TWAIN, a cross-platform interface, in order for you to take advantage of this feature.
Select Source:
Select which TWAIN-compatible device to use to create and import and TIFF image without leaving PageMaker.
Ø Choose File > Acquire > Select Source.
Ø Select the input device.
Ø Click OK.
Acquire Image:
Import an image from a TWAIN-compatible device without leaving PageMaker. Be sure your image-acquisition device is ready to create an image.
Ø Choose File > Acquire > Select Source.
Ø Select the input device.
Ø Click OK.
Export:
Options for creating new files from elements within a publication.
Link Manager:
Lets you view link status, update, and manage linked files in the active publication. This option is used to replace the image.
Ø Select the Image.
Ø Click on File menu.
Ø Click on Link manager
Ø Then a dialogue box will display
Ø Click on Info… option.
Ø Choose anyone image from given option.
Ø Click on Open.
Ø Click on Ok.
Page Numbering
This option is used to insert the page Number in current document.
Process:
Ø Select the Text Tool from tools box.
Ø Drag your page numbering alignment (left, right, and center).
Ø Press (Alt + Ctrl+ P)
Ø Click on File menu.
Ø Click on document setup.
Ø Document setup dialogue box will be displayed.
Ø Click on “Numbers….” Button.
Ø Page numbering dialogue box will display.
Ø Choose anyone Number style.
Ø Click on ok.
Ø Click on ok.
Document setup:
Lets you change settings for a publication, first defined when you chose New, such as page size, number of pages, and page-numbering. Margins are applied to the document master page.
Process:
Ø Click on File menu.
Ø Click on Document setup
Ø Then a dialogue box will display.
Ø Choose the paper size (A4, Letter, Custom etc.)
Ø Choose require Orientation Style. (Tall or Wide)
Ø Type the number of pages (Eg-5) & type the start page (1)
Ø Choose the margin no. (Left, right, top, bottom)
Ø Click on ok.
Printer Styles:
Lets you save, retrieve, and apply print settings to any publication. You can define a printer style to ensure that your publications print consistently to a specific printer, without resetting all print dialog box options for each print job.
Print:
Prints a publication or book on a printer or to a disk as a PostScript file. The printing options available depend on the printer you're using.
Process:
Ø Click On file menu
Ø Click on print option
Ø A dialogue box will be open
Ø Choose your require Pages, paper size, choose require setup etc.
Ø Click on print option
Ø Then your require page will be print.
Preferences:
Controls various settings that apply to publication-wide behavior.
General:
Controls various settings that apply to publication-wide behavior, such as font substitution and viewing text and graphics.
Edit Menu
Undo: Lets you reverse your last action. The Undo command reverses only the most recent action.
Process:
Ø Click on edit menu
Ø Click on Undo command
Ø Then undo command reverses only the most recent action
Cut:
Moves the selected text or objects from the publication to the Clipboard, removing them from the page. Unavailable if nothing is selected or no publication is open.
Ø Select the removing text or object
Ø Click on edit menu
Ø Click on cut
Ø Then your selected text or objects will remove
Copy:
Copies the selected text or graphics to the Clipboard. The original objects remain on the page or in the story view window.
Ø After selecting text or graphic
Ø Click on edit menu
Ø Click on copy
Ø Then your selected text or graphics will be copy
Paste:
You can use the Paste command to transfer text or graphics from one page to another within a PageMaker publication, or between publications.
Ø Place the cursor where you want to put the this text or graphics before you copy
Ø Click on edit menu
Ø Click on paste
Ø Then your require text or graphics will transfer.
Clear:
Deletes the selected text or graphic. Choosing clear is the same as pressing the Delete key. You cannot paste a cleared object, because it is not on the Clipboard.
Ø Select the deleting text or graphics
Ø Click on edit menu
Ø Click on clear, then your selected text will deletes
Select All:
Selects everything on the visible page or facing pages, and the pasteboard. Each selected object has visible handles, and all selected objects can be cut or copied to the Clipboard or cleared.
Ø Click on Edit menu
Ø Click on Select All command then you can be able to cut or copied to the clipboard and to change effects.
Deselect All:
Deselects everything on the visible page or facing pages, and the pasteboard. Unavailable if no publication is open.
Ø Click on Edit menu and click on deselect all.
Paste Multiple:
Lets you duplicate selected objects by specifying the number of copies you want and their numerical offset from the original object.
Ø Select the text or graphics. (Which you want to make duplicate copy).
Ø Click on Copy, from edit menu.
Ø Click on edit menu.
Ø Click on paste multiple
Ø Paste multiple dialogue box will display.
Ø Type the numerical value in paste multiple horizontal offset and Vertical offset.
Ø Click on ok.
Paste Special:
Lets you specify the format in which you want to paste the Clipboard contents. Paste Link option pastes an object from an OLE server into the publication. Unavailable if no publication is open, or if the Clipboard does not contain an OLE object or if no OLE servers are available on your computer.
Ø Select your require object or text
Ø Click on edit menu

Insert Object:
This option is used to insert the picture in current document. Lets you launch an OLE server application in which you create an object, which is then pasted as an OLE-embedded object into the current publication.
Process:
Ø Click on edit.
Ø Click on insert object.
Ø Object dialogue box will display.
Ø Choose Microsoft clip gallery or Microsoft word Picture.
Ø Click on ok.
Ø Clip art gallery dialogue box will display.
Ø Choose any one picture I-con, select the insert Clip.
Ø Click on ok.
Edit Story:
Opens the editor story to show the story currently selected, or opens a new story window if no text is selected
Ø Click on Edit menu
Ø Click on Edit story.
Ø Edit story dialogue box, will display.
Ø Type the text, as you like.
Ø Click on Edit.
Ø Click on Edit layout.
Insert object.
Lets you launch an OLE server application in which you create an object which is then pasted as an OLE-embedded object into the current publication. Unavailable if no publication is open, or if no OLE servers are available on your computer.
Process:
To import a linked OLE object by pasting:
1 In the source application, create and save the text or graphic you want to import.
2 Select the text or graphic, and copy it to the Clipboard.
3 Activate the PageMaker publication, and then choose Edit > Paste Special.
4 In the Paste Special dialog box, click Paste Link.
5 Click OK.
To import an existing file as a linked OLE object that updates automatically:
1 In PageMaker, choose Edit > Insert Object.
2 Click Create From File, and select a file from the list.
3 Click Link, and then click OK.
The item being linked or embedded is automatically placed on the page.
To create an embedded OLE object:
1 In PageMaker, choose Edit > Insert Object.
2 Click new, and select an application from the list.
3 Click OK.
4 Create or open an object in the source application.
5 Choose File > Exit in the source application.
Note: If you cannot find File > Exit in the source application, see its documentation for more information.
To import an existing file as an embedded OLE object:
1 In PageMaker, choose Edit > Insert Object.
2 Click Create From File, and select a file from the list.
3 Click OK.

Go to:
Turns to another page or master page in the active publication.
Process:
Ø Click on Layout menu.

Ø Insert the page no you want to go.

Insert pages:
Lets you add pages to a publication before or after the current page, or insert new pages between two facing pages, and specifies the master applied to new pages. Process:
Ø First, choose the required page, where you want to insert page (s) after or before it.
Ø Go to Layout menu.
Ø Click on Insert Pages. (Then, Insert pages dialog box will appear.
Ø Define required no. of page (s), how many you want to insert.
Ø Choose either after or before the current page.
Ø Choose Document master by clicking on dropdown arrow of master page, if you want to show the effect of master page into the inserted page otherwise, choose none
Ø Click on Insert.
To remove double sided page.
Process:
Ø Click on file menu.
Ø Click on document setup.
Ø Click on double sided in options.
Ø Click on ok.
Remove page:
Deletes the designated range of pages in a publication, including the text and graphics on those pages..
Process:
Ø Click on Layout.
Ø Click on Remove pages
Ø Remove page dialogue box will display.
Ø Insert number at Remove page(s) (starting page no.)
Ø Insert number at through (ending page no.)
Ø Click on ok
Ø Click on ok.
Sort page:
This option is used to see the document before printing the document.
Process:
Ø Click on layout menu.
Ø Click on sort pages.
Ø Sort pages dialogue box will display.
Ø Then you will show the preview.
Ø Click on ok.
Go Back:
Lets you return to the previous page in the sequence of pages you have viewed since you opened a publication.
Process:
Ø Click on layout menu
Ø Click on Go Back
Ø Then your page will go back
Go Forward:
Lets you advance to the next page in the sequence of pages you have viewed since you opened a publication. Unavailable if you have reached the end of the sequence of pages you have viewed, or if you navigate to a page using a control or command other than Go Forward or Go Back
Process:
Ø Click on Layout Menu
Ø Click on Go Forward
Ø Then your require page will go forward
Column guides:
Specifies the number of columns and the amount of space between the columns on the page.
Process:
Ø Click on layout menu.
Ø Click on column guides.
Ø Column guides dialogue box will display.
Ø Type the number in column guides
Ø Click on Adjust layout
Ø Click on ok.
Master copy guides:
Displays on the current page(s) the non-printing guides on the Master page currently applied. Useful if you moved the guides on the page and want to reset them quickly.
Process:
Ø Click on Layout menu.
Ø Click on Copy master guides.
Auto Flow:
When checked, text flows into available columns until there's no more text to place. Pages are added to the end of the publication if necessary. Switch between manual and automatic flow by pressing Ctrl while text is flowing.
Process:
Ø Click on Layout menu
Ø Click on Autoflow
Ø When you have text to place on a page, PageMaker displays a loaded text icon. Click the icon to flow text into the frame or column you click on (or drag to define a new custom-size text block). You can load a text icon in several ways:
Ø Use the File > Place command to import a word-processed document or another PageMaker story into layout view. After PageMaker imports the file, the pointer becomes a loaded text icon. See Placing and Linking for more information.
Ø Create or import a new story in story editor, and then choose Story > Close Story to return to layout view. PageMaker displays an alert message that says, "The story has not been placed." You can then click a button to place the story or to discard it from the publication.
Ø Use the pointer tool to select a text block. If there is unplaced text at the end of the block, an arrow appears in the bottom windows hade handle. If the text is part of a threaded story, you'll see a plus sign. Click the arrow or plus sign to turn the pointer tool into a loaded text icon. (Threaded text frames also display an arrow or plus sign, but you cannot load the text into an icon.)
Type menu:
Font: This option is used to change the different font name in the selected text or document.
Process:
Ø Select the text.
Ø Click on Type menu.

Ø Choose anyone font name.
Size:
This option is used to change the different font size in selected text.
Process:
Ø Select the text
Ø Click on Type menu.

Ø Choose the font size of text.
Type style:
This option is used to change the different type style in selected text.

Ø Click on type style.
Ø Choose any one effect (Bold, Normal, Italic etc )
Leading: -
This option is used to see line spacing in the selected text.
Process:
Ø Select the text
Ø Click on Type menu.
Ø Click on Leading.
Ø Choose anyone Leading size and click on it.
Expert Tracking:
This option is used to show the character spacing in selected text.
Process:
Ø Select the text.
Ø Click on Type menu and Expert Tracking.
Ø Select any one effect (Normal, loose, Large etc.)
Ø Click on it.
Horizontal scale:
It is used to change the space between texts.
Ø Select the document.
Ø Go to type menu and horizontal scale.
Ø Choose anyone percentage.(%)
Character:
Lets you select the font for a selected range of text, a default for a single publication, a default for all future publications or the next text you place or type in.
Process:
Ø Select the text, which you want to change.
Ø Click on Type menu and click on Character.
Ø Character dialogue box will display.
Ø Choose anyone font size, font name, leading etc.
Ø Click on ok.
Paragraph:
Sets the paragraph-level attributes for a single paragraph, for text placed into PageMaker, for part of a style, or for the default settings.
Process:
Ø Select the text and go to Type menu.
Ø Click on Paragraph and it will display a dialogue box.
Ø Set the different indents no. Left, right, first line, etc.
Ø Click on ok.
Indent and Tabs:
Sets the left and right indents, the first-line indent, and the tabs. You can use Indents/Tabs for a selected range of text, for text placed into PageMaker, for part of a style or for the default settings.
Process:
Ø Select the data.
Ø Go to Type menu and click on Indent/tabs.
Ø It will display a dialogue box.
Ø Set the tab position and click on Apply.
Ø Click on ok.
To remove the tab Effect:
Process:
Ø Select the data
Ø Go to type and indent Tabs.
Ø The tab position will display.
Ø Touch the tab position and drag down.
Hyphenation:
Controls PageMaker hyphenation. You can turn hyphenation on or off for a selected paragraph from the Hyphenation dialog box or for a style from within the Define Styles dialog box.
Process:
Ø Select the document.
Ø Go to Type menu and select Hyphenation.
Ø Hyphenation dialogue box will display.
Ø Click on Manual plus dictionary.
Ø Click on Ok.
Alignment Style:
Allow you to change the alignment of text at the paragraph level. You can choose to align left, align center, align right, justify, or force justify.
Process:
Ø Click on Type menu
Ø Click on alignment Style
Ø Choose your needed alignment style (e.g. Left Alignment, Right Alignment, Center Alignment, Justify and Force Justify alignment.)
Style:
Lets you apply styles already defined in the Styles palette on the paragraph level. PageMaker applies the style to all paragraphs in the selected text, even if only part of a paragraph is selected.
Process:
Ø Select your text which text you want to change Style
Ø Click in Type Menu
Ø Click on Style and choose your desire style (e.g. No style, body text, Caption, hanging indent, heading, subheading 1, subheading 2 etc.)
Define Style:
Lets you create and edit paragraph styles for text typed in or placed into PageMaker.
Fill:
Lets you specify a pattern when drawing a rectangle, ellipse, or polygon. A fill pattern can also be applied to a selected box or oval. With the exception of none, the patterns are opaque, hiding whatever is behind them.
Process: -
Ø Draw a rectangular box or circle.
Ø Click on Element menu.
Ø Click on Fill
Ø Choose anyone design and click on it.
Stroke:
Specifies the line weight and pattern for the rectangle, ellipse, or polygon tool. You can specify other line weights in one-tenth of point increments, up to 800 points.
Process:
Ø Draw a line/rectangle/circle and select it.
Ø Click on Element Menu
Ø Click on Stroke
Ø Choose anyone line style and click on it.
Fill and Stroke:
Lets the fill and stroke attributes for a selected object, including whether the fill or stroke overprints or knocks out objects in the background.
Process:
Ø Draw anyone box.
Ø Click on Element.
Ø Click on Fill and stroke.
Ø Fill and Stroke dialogue box will display.
Ø Choose anyone color. Line style, graphic and click on it
Ø Click on Ok
Frame:
Lets you attach text and graphics to a frame, set attributes for frames and the objects they contain, and navigate among frames.
Ø Click on Element menu
Ø Click on Frame
Ø Choose require frame option (Vertical Alignment and horizontal alignment)
Ø Choose require inset (e.g. top, bottom, Left and right)
Arrange: This option is used to send the text backward or to bring text forward.
Bring to front:
Moves selected objects to the front of any overlapping objects. Unavailable if no objects are selected, or no publication is open.
Process
Ø Select your require object which object you want to bring front
Ø Click on Element menu
Ø Choose Arrange and Click on Bring to front
Bring forward:
Moves selected objects up one level in a stack of overlapping objects. Unavailable if no objects are selected, or no publication is open.
Process
Ø Select your require object which object you want to Bring Forward
Ø Click on Element menu and choose arrange
Ø Click on Bring Forward
Bring back ward:
Moves selected objects up one level in a stack of overlapping objects. Unavailable if no objects are selected, or no publication is open.

Send to back:
Moves selected objects to the back of any overlapping objects. Unavailable if no objects are selected, or no publication is open.

Ø Select your require object which object you want to Send to Back
Ø Click on Element menu and choose Arrange
Ø Click on Send to back
Process:
Ø Select the text or object.
Ø Click on element menu.
Ø Click on Arrange.
Ø Choose anyone effect and click on ok.
Align Object:
Lets you align selected objects in relation to each other, and then evenly distribute them.
Process:
Ø Select object
Ø Click on Element menu
Ø Click on Align object
Text Wrapping:
Lets you determine how text flows when it encounters a graphic object. Text interacts with a graphic object in three ways: it can cover the graphic object, wrap around the sides of a rectangular shape, or wrap around the sides of an irregular shape.
Process:
Ø Type the text, as you like.
Ø Insert the picture and select it.
Ø Click on element
Ø Click on text wrap
Ø Text wrap dialogue box will display
Ø Choose anyone effect and click on it.
Ø Click on OK.
Group:
Combines one or more selected objects into a group so that the objects are treated as a unit.
Process:
Ø Select the all figures of text.
Ø Click on element menu.
Ø Click on group.
Ungroup:
Separates grouped object into constituent objects. The objects retain the changes you made while the objects were grouped.
Process:
Ø Select the text.
Ø Click on Element Menu.
Ø Click on ungroup
Lock Position:
Maintains objects in place. You can change the attributes of a locked object as long as the change does not affect the object's size or position.
Process:
Ø Select the text.
Ø Click on element.
Ø Click on lock position.
Unlock:
Undoes Lock Position command, allowing movement of selected object.
Process:
Ø Select the picture or text.
Ø Click on element menu
Ø Click on unlock
Mask:
Lets you cover part of an object so that only a portion of it appears through a shape drawn with the rectangle, ellipse, or polygon tool. In PageMaker, you mask objects by positioning the mask or masking object on the objects you want to mask, selecting both objects, and choosing the Element > Mask command.
Process:
Ø Select the object
Ø Click on element menu
Ø Click on Mask.
Unmask:
Lets you undo a mask by selecting the masking object or the masked object, and choosing the Element > Unmask command.
Process:
To show the previous color.
Ø Select the object.
Ø Click on element Menu.
Ø Click on Unmask.
Polygon Setting:
Lets you change the shape of polygons. You can change the number of sides (up to 100) and the degree to which the sides are inset to form a star. With no object selected, the chosen setting becomes the default for PageMaker-drawn polygons Unavailable if the selected object is not a polygon drawn in PageMaker.
Process:
Ø Select your require object which you want to change polygon setting
Ø Click on Element menu
Ø Click on Polygon Setting
Ø A dialogue Box will display
Ø Choose require polygon
Ø Click on ok button
Rounded corner:
This option is used to show the different types of Rounded corner in current document.
Process:
Ø Draw a polygon shapes or circle and select it.
Ø Click on Element Menu.
Ø Click on Round Corner
Ø Round Corner dialogue box will display.
Ø Choose Round Corners as your desire
Ø Click on ok.
Non Printing Object:
Designates a selected object as non-printing, so that it does not print. You can hide or display non-printing objects on screen with the Layout > Display Non-Printing command.
Process:
Ø Select your require non printing object
Ø Click on Element menu
Ø Click on Non-Printing object
Ø Then this object will not be print
Plug-ins:
Displays a list of installed PageMaker Plug-ins.
Add continued line: To add continued notice for the selected text block.
Process:
Ø Select the text block by pointer tool.
Ø Click on Utilities>Plug ins>Add continued line
Ø Select the top of bottom of text block where you need continued notice.
Ø Click at ok.
Balance Columns: To balance the selected columns.
Process:
Ø Select the text block with pointer tool.
Ø Click on utilities>Plug ins>Balance columns
Ø Select the balance alignment(top or bottom) and define the left over lines
Ø Click on ok.
Build Booklet: To create different types of booklet.
Types of booklet: Normally we can create 5 types of booklet. They are:
1. 2-up consecutive
2. 3-up consecutive
3. 4-up consecutive
4. 2-up saddle stitch
5. 2-up perfect bound
Process:
Ø Defined the required setup for each booklet.
Ø Save the original file.
Ø Click on utilities>Plug ins>Build booklet
Ø Select the types of booklet from layout
Ø Click at ok.
Bullets and numbering.
This option is used to insert the Bullets and numbering in current document.
Process:
Ø Click on Utilities
Ø Click on Plug-ins
Ø Click on bullets and numbering. Then a Dialogue box will display.
Ø Click on bullets option.
Ø Choose the bullets I- con from symbol font.
Ø Click on ok.
Ø Again click on ok.
For number
Process:
Ø Select the text.
Ø Click on Utilities menu & choose the Plug – ins
Ø Click on bullets & numbering, then a dialogue box will display.
Ø Click on Number.
Ø Choose anyone number and click on it.
Ø Click on ok
Ø Click on ok.
Drop Cap:
This option is used to show the letter in drop cap style.
Process:
Ø Select the letter.
Ø Click on utilities menu.
Ø Click on plug-ins
Ø Click on Drop cap.
Ø Drop cap dialogue box will display.
Ø Type the no. Of line in Drop cap dialogue box.
Ø Click on apply
Ø Click on OK.
Change Case:
This option is used to change the different types of letter style in selected text.
Process:
Ø Click on utilities
Ø Click on plug-ins
Ø Click on Change case.
Ø Choose case dialogue box will display.
Ø Choose case anyone style and click on it.
Ø Click on Apply
Ø Click on OK.
Keyline: To give keyline or outline for the selected object.
Process:
Ø Select the object
Ø Click on utilities>plug-ins>keyline
Ø Define the keyline width in extends box, style and color on attributes
Ø Click on ok
Ø To remove the keyline, again click on utilities>plug ins>keyline
Ø Click at remove.
Find:
Locates specified text, characters, or formatting (Font, Size, and so on) in the selected text, in an entire story, in all stories in the active publication, or in all stories in all open publications.
Process:
Ø Click on Utilities>find
Ø Type the find word in find what box
Ø Then click at find next.
Find Next:
Used after you've specified text, characters, or formatting (Font, Size, and so on) with Find, this command finds the next instance. Available only in Story view after you've used the Find command.
Change:
Locates and replaces specified text, characters, or formatting (Font, Size, and so on) in the selected text, in an entire story, in all stories in the active publication, or in all stories in all open publications. Available only in Story view.
Spelling:
Checks and helps correct spelling and basic grammatical error in the selected text, in an entire story, in all stories in the active publication, or in all stories in all open publications. Available only in Story view.
Book:
Compiles two or more PageMaker publications into a book and creates a book list of the names of the publications. You can compile an index and a table of contents from all the publications in the book, and print all booked publications at once.
Index Entry:
Opens a dialog box to define an index entry at the insertion point. Unavailable if no text or insertion point is selected.
Show Index:
Displays all index entries throughout the publication or book (one index section at a time) for review and editing. To view entries for just the current publication in a book, press Shift as you choose this command.
Create Index:
Compiles and formats the index entries throughout the booked publication (or for the active publication only) into a single story you can then flow.
Create TOC:
Generates a Table of Contents consisting of all paragraphs in the booked publication (or in the active publication only) that have the Include in TOC attribute checked in the Paragraph Specifications dialog box.
Define Color:
Allows you to create and edit custom colors that you can apply to text or graphic objects. You can also import colors from industry-standard and custom color libraries.
Display master items: Makes master page objects all visible or all invisible on a page.
Process:
• Click the master page icon at the bottom of the publication window to display the master page applied to the current page. If you are working on a spread with two different masters applied, PageMaker turns to the master applied to the right-hand page.
• Click the master page icon and click the right mouse button until the list of masters appears. Then select the master you want to view.
• Choose Layout > Go to Page, and then select the name of the master you want.
Display non Printing items: Shows or hides the objects defined as non-printing with the Element Non-Printing command.
Process:
To make an object non-printing:
1 Select the object.
2 Choose Element > Non-Printing.
To view or hide non-printing objects:
Choose View > Display Non-Printing Items.
To allow non-printing objects to print:
1 Choose File > Print.
2 Select the Ignore "Non-Printing" Setting.
