A Marine Left 30,000 People Speechless When He Did THIS. By 1:48, I Was In Tears!

When veteran Marine Corps Sgt. Dan Clark stood up in front of over 30,000 people in Fenway park during the seventh-inning stretch, I had no idea he was going to do something this incredible.

In Game 1 of the 2013 world series, the Boston Red Sox were playing the St. Louis Cardinals; the Sox were already way in the lead so the crowd was slowly losing interest. That’s when one brave Marine stepped out onto the field and performed one of the most beautiful and exciting versions of my second-favorite patriotic song of all time. The first, of course, being the Star-Spangled Banner.

The song itself has a lot of history to it, originally written by Irving Berlin in 1918, it differs from other patriotic songs due to the fact that it takes the form of a prayer. Then, in 1938, he revised his song, and it was brought into the limelight when singer Kate Smith performed it. As Hitler was gaining more momentum in Europe, Smith provided a sobering introduction before she sung:

“While the storm clouds gather far across the sea / Let us swear allegiance to a land that’s free / Let us all be grateful for a land so fair / As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.”

This patriotic song has been celebrated by Americans since WWII — and for good reason. Its thankfulness and appreciation for our great country is truly expressed in the poetic words of Berlin. And with a Marine singing it during the seventh-inning stretch of a World Series game… Well, you really can’t get much more American than that, can you?

What did you think of Clark’s version of the song? When he hit that note at the 1:48 mark I just had to stand up!

Please SHARE this amazing song with your patriotic friends and family!
