Learn how to format a mobile phone. First of all you need to understand that formatting in mobile phones means just deleting the user data i.e images, videos, songs, contact numbers, etc which you have saved in the phone memory. In cell phones, formatting will not touch the OS(operating system). Unlike computers, where you have to reinstall the entire operating system like Windows, your operating system will remain intact.
In mobile phone repair terminology, flashing (and not formatting) means reinstalling the OS! It is called flashing in which you reinstall the OS.
Formatting a cell phone is required when it is infected by virus.
The signs that your phone is infected by virus are:
- Frequent freezing(Hanging)
- Slow processing
- Switching off or restarting automatically
- Failures of some applications.
It is very easy to format a mobile phone. Follow these steps:
- Go to settings. In settings, there will be an option for reset settings. Go into it.
- Here, there will be a ‘reset settings only’ option and the other option will be ‘reset all’ or ‘master reset’ or ‘format’ or ‘erase all data’. Select it. The phone may ask you for the security code. If you have not changed it, enter the default code. For the list of default security codes please go to the default security codes page. This will format your phone memory(internal memory).
- You can even format a mobile phone with the hep of various secret codes. Or you can also do it through options in flashing softwares. This option is availble in almost all softwares.
Now, you have to format or scan the MMC card(memory card) as well, if it is there! This is because if there is virus in the phone, it spreads to both the phone memory as well as the memory card. So it is important to remove virus from both these places. And its done!
