I have a friend who often tells me that she’s proud of me. How awesome is that?
It feels amazing to have someone who supports you and lifts you up. But the other day, I asked her:
“You always tell me how proud you are of me and I really appreciate it. But do you ever feel proud of yourself?”
She looked at me with wide eyes and said: Well, I guess it doesn’t come naturally to me, to feel proud of myself!
And that really got me thinking! As women we sometimes have a bad habit of thinking that we don’t have anything special to offer to the world. We think: I’m not that uncommon.
And this attitude often stops us from grabbing new opportunities!
We’re constantly comparing ourselves to the people we admire, without being aware that it’s a never-ending quest.
Because we’ll ALWAYS look up to people who have traits we want to develop within ourselves. That’ll never stop and neither should it!
That’s what keeps us moving forward and evolving as human beings.
However if we don’t stop up and acknowledge ourselves for what we’ve already accomplished, we’ll never be truly satisfied – no matter all the hard work we put in it.
So today, I want you to stop up and give yourself the same credit and support you give your friends and family.
Be proud of yourself for being a good friend. You are attentive, supportive and you’re there if your friends are in need.
Be proud of yourself for doing the best you can with what you have and under the circumstances you are in. Don’t beat yourself up for not being where you want to be.
You’ve come so far, and when you feel ready and motivated enough, you’ll take one more step and one more until you’re right where you dream of being.
For now, be proud of where you are.
Be proud of yourself every time you make a good decision. When you choose sorbet over chocolate ice cream and when you wake up 30 minutes earlier to go for a run.
You’re making good decisions for yourself on a daily basis. Be aware and proud of that!
Be proud of yourself every time you put on your running shoes, go to the gym or take the stairs. And no, this is no small thing.
Give yourself the credit you deserve every time you make an active choice to move your body.
Be proud of yourself every time you finish a task you’ve procrastinated to the extreme.
It takes time, focus and dedication to finish the types of tasks we put off endlessly, but you’ve finally set yourself up to do it. Well done!
Be proud of all the small things you’ve accomplished. Be proud of your unique strengths.
Don’t leave it to another person to make you feel worthy.
So take action now. Think of 10 things you’re proud of and write them down on a blank piece of paper.
If you want, decorate it and hang it up by your mirror. I guarantee you it will lift you up every time you take a look at it.
Share your list in the comments below. I’d love to be inspired!
This exercise is about putting aside all of the aspects of yourself you want to improve and for a moment be proud of who you are. You’ve got endless reasons to be.
